your details, looked after
privacy.
Last updated 25 September 2026
The Bangalow Barn respects your privacy. This explains what personal information we collect when you enquire or book, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
The Bangalow Barn (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a privately owned holiday home in Bangalow, NSW. For anything privacy-related, contact us at hello@bangalowbarn.com.
What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your name; contact details (email and phone); booking details (dates, number of guests, any requests); your correspondence with us; and payment information. We do not see or store your full card details - those are handled directly by our payment processor (see below).
How we collect it
We collect information directly from you - when you email us or book through our website - and through our booking-management platform, Hostaway. If you book through a third-party site such as Airbnb, we receive the details that platform shares with us in order to host your stay.
How we use it
To take and manage your booking; to communicate with you before, during and after your stay; to prepare the property and respond to your requests; to process payments and any refunds; to keep proper records; and to meet our legal and tax obligations. With your consent, we may occasionally email you about the Barn - and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We share your information only as far as needed to run the Barn: with Hostaway (our booking-management system); with Stripe (our payment processor, who handles your card details under strict security standards); with Airbnb or other platforms where you've booked; and with trusted local providers (such as our cleaners) who need limited details to prepare for your stay. We never sell your information to anyone.
Information processed overseas
Some of these providers, including Hostaway, Stripe and Airbnb, store and process data on servers outside Australia. By using our website and services you consent to this transfer, on the basis that these providers maintain strong, industry-standard data protection.
Payment security
Card payments are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider. We never store your card number on our own systems.
Cookies & the website
Our website is deliberately lightweight. It uses Google Tag Manager (container GTM-MBMHTZS4) to load the Google tag, which reports to Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-HTRFQNRT4C, also used by our booking engine) and to Google Ads (ID AW-18289302627); we added analytics on 24 September 2026 and moved it to Tag Manager on 1 October 2026, so we can see how people find the site and whether our advertising works. The same Google Analytics measurement is used on our booking engine (run by Hostaway); because it sits on the same domain (book.bangalowbarn.com), your visit isn't counted twice. It sets Google cookies and sends Google standard page-view information (the page you visited, a cookie identifier, your browser type and approximate location). Google may use that to measure conversions and, if you're signed in to a Google account, to show or stop showing you our ads elsewhere; Google processes this information overseas, including in the United States. Google Analytics doesn't log your IP address and we don't build profiles of visitors ourselves. You can control Google's advertising cookies at adssettings.google.com, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, read how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and block third-party cookies in your browser without affecting the site. The booking engine we link to (run by Hostaway) may set cookies that are necessary to complete a booking; its own privacy policy applies there. If we add anything further, we'll update this policy first.
Letters from the Barn (our newsletter)
If you sign up for our occasional letters on the website, we collect your email address, your first name if you give it, the page you signed up from, the time, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address that we use only to block spam sign-ups. The list is stored on our web host, Hostinger, in a file that is not reachable from the web, and it is used for one thing: sending you our letters about new dates, offers and news from the barn. We also keep a short log of blocked sign-up attempts (the address entered and the reason) so we can tune the spam filter; it is kept for the same purpose only. We do not share, rent or sell it. You can leave at any time using the link in any letter or by emailing hello@bangalowbarn.com, and we will remove you straight away. If we later move the list to an email-sending service, we will choose one that meets Australian and international privacy standards, and this section will say so.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we keep it only as long as we need it for your stay and for our legal and tax obligations.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected, by emailing hello@bangalowbarn.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll do our best to put it right. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always live here, with its “last updated” date at the top.
